NRF 2018 - Roasting Workshop, 20th Sept
We are happy to invite the attendees of the 2018 Nordic Roaster Forum to a couple of exclusive workshops taking place at our new roastery at Tøyengata 29C, Oslo. The workshops will be held on Thursday 20th September from 13:00pm. Tickets are free but will be reserved for attendees of the Nordic Roaster Forum only. Our roastery can hold a maximum of 35 people and therefore we have 30 tickets available on a first come first served basis. Make sure to reserve a spot if you want to attend the events below:
IKAWA Workshop: 13:00pm
The talk will be about how coffee professionals actually go about sample evaluation.
There are 'the standards' for sample roasting and cupping - but IKAWA finds that hardly anyone actually uses them. From what they've learnt, 'the standards' were formed by a very small group of American roasters about 30 years ago by consulting with a small group of colleagues.
This is an interactive session with the attending NRF roasters to help better understand how they go about effective sample evaluation and create a discussion about fit for purpose processes in this crucial area for roasters.
Tim Wendelboe Workshop: 14:00pm
Ben, Marit and I will talk about our new Loring roaster and share our experience so far with the roaster. Having roasted on Probat machines, from sample roasters all the way up to a 120kg roaster, and then switching to a Loring Kestrel has given us some experience that we are happy to share with fellow roasters. We will talk about how we approach profile roasting and in general how we work and structure our days. There will also be room to ask a lot of questions.
The workshop starts at 14:00pm on Thursday 20th of September and we will keep on until 16:00pm at the latest, depending on how many questions we get.
